  2. My favourite item of clothing from childhood was a red tartan dress with a white collar. I wore it everywhere. The epitome of 1980s fashion! I also loved a bubble-gum pink body warmer.

  3. My very favourite item of clothing from childhood was a pair of rainbow-striped cotton dungarees. Often teamed with a battered ET t-shirt, another favourite! (yes it was the 80's!)

  8. Oh the joy of clothes! My favourite piece was a red and white polka dress with a big sailor collar. It slightly gathered at the waist and had short sleeves with red trim. I couldn't bear to part with it when it no longer fitted and I still have it now. Oh to be 5 yrs old again....just for one sunny day!

  10. My favourite was a tartan skirt, that I managed to rip on a tree. Mum was NOT impressed as it wasn't easy to repair. However, she did save it and my daughter has worn it! Happy days. kirstywh@gmail.com

  12. I had an entire favorite outfit that, according to my mum was the only thing I would wear for several months. She had to wash it every evening and hang it to dry for the next day. After a while, the staff at nursery started to ask her really suspicious questions about the household finances...
Black/red striped tights, white and red checked frilly skirt ( the elastic became so loose that mum also had to take it in at the waist) and finally a dark blue lycra short-sleeved leotard suit with stripes down the side. Tell me about the trend for pattern clashes, I had it all worked out from an early age!

  14. My sister and I each had a rainbow swimming costume with a hint of silver fleck sparkle to it. I LOVED that costume and remember vividly my excitement when I first took it to the pool to show off. I think it was the first time I ever experienced absolute love of an item of clothing as I was a tomboy and hated dresses. Pride comes before a fall though, because at the time my younger brother was going through a habit of flushing things down the loo and both our costumes disappeared after only a few outings. Everyone in my family knew where they had disappeared to as my brother was very candid about his exciting disappearing trick! I remember being too embarassed to tell my friends so I nonchalantly pretended I had gone off it rather than admit to them what had become of it. I was about 6 or 7 and I have never fully forgiven my brother who was 3/4 at the time! I still love swimming but have never found a costume to match that one that I lost!

  15. My favourite item of clothing as a child were my paddington bear pyjamas which I got for my 6th birthday and still have. I wore them as often as I could get away with. I often wonder if my daughter will love her peppa pig night dress as much or have times changed. mummy@competitivemum.com

  16. I loved dressing up clothes, my favourite being a bride's maid dress which I wore for a cousin's wedding. Think giant hoop skirt, little blue flowers, puff sleeves...

  17. My childhood favourite would be from the dressing up box - an old (and rather scratchy) white dress of Mum's, with diagonal piping on the bodice (red one way, yellow the other) and puff sleeves that closed at the wrist with a little popper - it was ideal for playing "Princess" in. It was only in my teens I discovered it was actually Mum's wedding dress!!

  18. Thank you so much for your entries so far. It has been wonderful reading all of these humorous and heartfelt stories. Rachael, love the story about your mother's wedding dress. How sweet. It makes me realise how vividly and fondly we all remember these special outfits - I think I may have to do a blog feature on it!

  19. I loved my wool coat, mum told me it was Aubergine not purple and I spent ages learning how to say Aubergine.
The dress and cardi are gorgeous, I've got two girls who will love these

  20. DARLING!!! I had a purple striped t-shirt that I loved. There was nothing special about it other than that it was my favorite color, purple. I had to wear every day. My poor mother... she tried to get me to wear other shirts, but I couldn't be persuaded.

  21. Oh it had to be the 80's rara skirt!

What lovely clothes! I love the blue dress x

  22. Back in 1982 Father Christmas gave me a fantastic & plastic pink pair of high heels which I adored, my mother however would not let me wear them out of the house. Years later she still can't give me a straight answer as to why FC gave me the fashion present of my dreams which I wasn't allowed to wear out - gutted!

  23. One of my favourite outfits was a brown maxi skirt and brown checked gypsy top that my lovely grandma made for me. I felt so grown up in it!

I adore these Hucklebones clothes, thanks for the chance to win them. My daughter always wants to wear blue dresses so keeping my fingers crossed :)

  24. Hello there! Oohh, my favourite and most memorable item of clothing was a grey & pink padded Clothkits jacket that my mum made for me. It had little hand sewn animals that went in the pockets. It was very cosy and warm and fun to wear. And, most of all I remember my little sister using it to wipe her nose at the school gate! Yuk! But these are the things that you remember as a kid. Unlike all the clever ladies who kept their favourite items of clothing from childhood, I think mine when into the charity bag. :( A lovely blue dress and jumper would cheer me and my daughter Agnes up no end! :)

  25. Thank you for the chance to win the beautiful Hucklebones clothes.
My favourite item was my brothers "Superman" outfit. When I was little he told me if I wore it under my school uniform the kids would stop bullying me. I felt braver wearing it.
