The CLB household has been poring over Ashlyn Gibson’s gorgeous book, Creative Family Home, since it landed on the kitchen table last week. Gibson is a stylist and founder of fabulous Stoke Newington-based kids’ shop Olive Loves Alfie, so we knew it was going to be a good’un. For the book, she has visited twelve unique homes across Europe from London to Spain via Hollland and Germany. Gibson has a refreshing approach to interior design – for her it’s imperative that children are free to express themselves and enjoy their homes as much as their parents (if only everyone thought like her). The book showcases these very individual family-friendly spaces packed with colour, pattern and one-off finds – there are lots of cheap and creative ideas about how to add personality to rooms. Have your ever thought about transforming your dishwasher into a plate-gobbling monster with the addition of some simple stickers, for example? It’s not just CLB mummy who has been reaping inspiration – Miss E and Little Lola can’t get enough of this book and have all sorts of plans for the house starting with getting an old carousel horse installed in the front room. A truly inspiring book for the whole family.
