Moomin's celebrate 65th anniversary

€20 at Moomin World online

It's 65 years since Finnish writer, Tove Jansson, had her first Moomin book, 'The Moomins and the Great Flood' published. By the 1950s the Moomins had become so popular the Evening Standard started running a weekly Moomin comic strip, drawn by Tove's brother, Lars. It ran over two decades. I remember the 1970s TV series Moominvalley vividly. I loved these humorous and cuddly characters. The stylised imagery has also become something of a design classic and I have been collecting the charming Iittala Moomin mugs for a few years now. Did you know there's even a Moomin World theme park in Finland?! CLB loves the new anniversary mug and Moomin figurine (both below). Puffin have also published some of the Moomin classics to celebrate the anniversary. CLB can't think of better Christmas gift material for your little ones.
