BMW for Maclaren buggies

Look buggy wheels like mini BMW wheels!

CLB was one of the first to test drive the new BMW for Maclaren buggies at Harrods last week. As a longtime Maclaren fan (we have used our XTR practically every day since Evie was born) we were  eager to test drive this new baby. As you might expect, with the German luxury car-giant involved, it's like a suped-up version of its former self with wheels that are scaled down versions of proper BMW wheels, proper BMW inginia clasp straps and a lovely soft, sporty hood with air vents in the shape of BMW lights. The buggy glides along smoothly with excellent handling of corners which will please Top Gear loving mums and dads. Sadly, power-steering and sat-nav don't come as standard. From £285 at Harrods.

Top ten cool kids things for 2013

Miss Evelyn and Little Lola Maud enjoying the snow today

Hello, hello and happy 2013! To kick off the new year in style, we thought we'd bring you ten things we're most excited about this year. So here goes: cute fashion finds, keepsakes to cherish, brilliant organic products and some fab sheepskin slippers to keep tiny toes warm in these near-Arctic conditions. Enjoy!

Polish mountain slippers for little ones

1. Polish mountain slippers or 'mounties'.
Our brilliant Polish nanny, Sylvie, came back from her homeland with sheepskin slippers for Evie and Lola and the girls absolutely love them. Me too - they are so snug, cosy and beautifully embroidered. Luckily you needn't schlep to Eastern Europe to get them - CLB has found similar on Etsy.

Little Pinecone's delectable super-fine New Zealand merino designs including this newborn set, £19.95

2. Little Pinecone
Since acquiring this beautiful reversible merino hoodie last spring, Little Lola has worn it practically every day. Merino is a great year-round wool that keeps you warm when its cold (nice and toasty for a day like today) and cool when it's hot. Miracle! We adore this small independent brand specialising in soft modern merino pieces for babies and children.

First Impressions' exquisite baby casts

3. First Impressions
We utterly cherish the bronze baby feet and hand casts we commissioned First Impressions to do when the girls were both teeny weeny. The north London-based company has been immortalising baby's tiny hands and feet in bronze, silver and crystal for the past 25 years. Now, they can even create a 3D moulds of your little cherub's face and put turn them into cufflinks. Not surprisingly, they have a vast celebrity following including stylish mums Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham, who got baby Harper's feet cast in solid gold.

Petit chic at new-in-the-UK French website Melijoe.com
4. Melijoe.com
We're really excited about this well-established French kids' designer website launches in the UK this week. Stocking a well-edited selection of pieces by labels like Little Marc Jacobs, John Galliano Kids and Rykiel Enfant, it is tres tres chic.

Missoni for Bugaboo

Bugaboo Bee, £579

Is this a match made in CLB heaven? Harrods and Bugaboo have teamed up with one of our all time favourite fashion brands, Missoni, to produce these beautiful designer buggies. Presenting them at an exclusive mummies breakfast yesterday at Harrods, it was love at first sight for CLB. The classic Bugaboo Bee features Missoni's distinctive zig-zag design while the Cameleon features a vibrant block colour print that will stand out in any playground. And there's even a knitted Missoni blanket for the most stylish of strollers. 'It was a great joy to work on this project,' says Angela Missoni. 'Children are so sensitive to colours and patterns, so working with Bugaboo gave me a unique opportunity to create a dream stroller that I hope will be enjoyed by children and will stimulate their senses.' We are sure they will. The Missoni Bugaboo's will be available exclusively at Harrods for one month from 1st June.

Maclaren Nursery Furniture by David Netto at Harrods

    The Cabine crib and changer

We Brit mums associate Maclaren with the trusty, take-everywhere Maclaren buggy, but did you know they do some rather stylish nursery furniture too? CLB had a morning appointment with charming LA-based interior designer David Netto in Harrods' glorious baby department. Spurred on by the birth of his first child in 2001, Netto launched his own range of super-chic nursery furniture which Maclaren have now bought into. 'I went shopping for cribs for our modern house in LA and I was scandalised,' he tells CLB. 'There was no modernism, no luxury and nothing to fall in love with...I decided to remedy this.' That he has certainly done; his new designs include a range of sleek, modern cots, changing tables and nursery accessories aimed at style-conscious parents everywhere (cribs are upwards of £1,000). Available in two colourways: the 'Moderne' range features ebony stained ash with white lacquer while the 'Cabine' range arrives in natural oak also with the signature white lacquer. Netto will be available in store for nursery design consultations this Saturday and Sunday. Go get his expert advice while you can.

      Maclaren Nursery Furniture, exclusively at Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Rd, London SW1X 7QN (020 7730 1234/www.harrods.com) Knightsbridge tube. Open 10am-8pm Mon-Sat, noon-6pm Sun.
