CLB ♥ Ruby Red natural beauty products

Ruby Red's Soothing Shea Skin Cream, £18 for 60ml
There are zillions of beauty products on the market but it's not often that CLB comes across one that we truly LOVE. Ruby Red is a UK brand, founded by Martine and Mike Ruby, who were inspired to create the range after a trip to South-East Asia where plants are usedin women's beauty regimes. The Rubys, who like to call their products 'botanical', rather than 'natural', have also made sure they are free from nasty chemicals, SLS, parabens, sulphates, petrochemicals, synthetic perfumes and dyes and are not tested on animals. Brownie points. The CLB family has been testing the Reviving Body Cleanser, which bursts with zingy lime and red mandarin and includes lovely cedarwood to boost circulation. Scrummy and refreshing! Shower-time just got a little bit more fragrant. www.rubyredcosmetics.co.uk

Top ten cool kids things for 2013

Miss Evelyn and Little Lola Maud enjoying the snow today

Hello, hello and happy 2013! To kick off the new year in style, we thought we'd bring you ten things we're most excited about this year. So here goes: cute fashion finds, keepsakes to cherish, brilliant organic products and some fab sheepskin slippers to keep tiny toes warm in these near-Arctic conditions. Enjoy!

Polish mountain slippers for little ones

1. Polish mountain slippers or 'mounties'.
Our brilliant Polish nanny, Sylvie, came back from her homeland with sheepskin slippers for Evie and Lola and the girls absolutely love them. Me too - they are so snug, cosy and beautifully embroidered. Luckily you needn't schlep to Eastern Europe to get them - CLB has found similar on Etsy.

Little Pinecone's delectable super-fine New Zealand merino designs including this newborn set, £19.95

2. Little Pinecone
Since acquiring this beautiful reversible merino hoodie last spring, Little Lola has worn it practically every day. Merino is a great year-round wool that keeps you warm when its cold (nice and toasty for a day like today) and cool when it's hot. Miracle! We adore this small independent brand specialising in soft modern merino pieces for babies and children.

First Impressions' exquisite baby casts

3. First Impressions
We utterly cherish the bronze baby feet and hand casts we commissioned First Impressions to do when the girls were both teeny weeny. The north London-based company has been immortalising baby's tiny hands and feet in bronze, silver and crystal for the past 25 years. Now, they can even create a 3D moulds of your little cherub's face and put turn them into cufflinks. Not surprisingly, they have a vast celebrity following including stylish mums Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham, who got baby Harper's feet cast in solid gold.

The stylish mamma of baby Roman has been indulging in all things baby-orientated on her blogs so expect an inspiring selection of clothing, toys and books. See you there chic mammas.

She's here...

Excuse the lack of posts recently but we have been busy welcoming our latest addition, Lola Maud Westhead, to the CLB household! Born at 2.11pn on 22nd July at UCLH, Lola weighed in at a petite 6lbs11 (just over 3.03kg) with a head a dark hair just like her daddy. She has been feeding and sleeping well and older sis Evie has been a remarkably stoical about the whole thing. As soon as she set eyes on Lola in the hospital she ran up to her shouted 'tiny hands, tiny hands!' and then insisted on kissing her on the head very excitedly. So sweet. We couldn't be more delighted with our new bundle of loveliness.

Five things this new mummy can't live without:

Boob breast feeding tops
Close baby carrier - Lola and I love it
Merino baby blanket
Petit Bateau newborn baby wear
Storksak baby changing bag
Aden + Anais giant swaddles - a life saver!

    The ultimate hospital bag?

Olivia baby changing bag, £98, Storksak at Funkymoose
Enter code CLB for 10% off!

With CLB #2 due next Friday (I'm booked in for an elective c-section at UCH) I thought I'd better get my hospital bag sorted. It's been packed for a couple of weeks JUST IN CASE but I have been through it and edited it down to what I consider the bare essentials. Alongside the obligatory antenatal notes, newborn nappies and big pants, below is what I've whittled it down to. What is/was a must for your hospital bag?

    1. An old-fashion fan (I find hospital wards insufferably hot so it's my no.1 essential)
    2. Some comfy but chic PJs. I love the selection at Babes with Babies
    3. Aden + Anais swaddles for new babe. Necessity!
    4. Some Mocci slippers for grown-ups, which I can keep on the whole time (great for putting over those unflattering post-surgery stockings and you can even sleep in them)
    5. A couple of good breastfeeding tops by Boob that look presentable when visitors come
    6. A wrap - for me instead of a dressing gown as it's more versatile
    7. Some 'Say Yes to Cucumbers' facial wipes - really excellent and refreshing
    8. Neal's Yard Rose & Almond night cream which arrives in a handy tube
    9. Burt's Bees organic lipbalm
    10. All of the above folded neatly into a new baby changing bag - I chose the Olivia by Storksak at Funkymoose (CLB readers get a further 10% off by quoting CLB at check out)

    Muji fan, £6.95
Dotty Mama nursing PJs, £45, Babes with Babies

Jungle Jam swaddles, £24.95, Aden + Anais

    Adult Moccis, £28

    Seraphine breastfeeding wrap, £42

    Nursing top, £35, Boob
Yes to Cucumbers facial wipes, £4.99, Feelunique.com

    Burt's Bees lip balm, £3.69

Neal's Yard Rose & Almond night cream, £19.90

    Dr Duve baby products

CLB had the pleasure of meeting famed German dermatologist, Dr Stefan Duve, last week when he launched a new facial at Mayfair salon, Michaeljohn. We were excited to learn of his range for babies and children which includes a 50 SPF sunscreen, shampoo and nappy rash cream. It's a fusion of age-old naturopathy combined with state-of-the-art western dermatology and reassuringly, everything is free of parabens. We've tested it out and are impressed - the moisturiser was a great consistency, easy to slather on and it left babe's skin soft but not oily. From £22 at Michaeljohn

      Missoni for Bugaboo

      Bugaboo Bee, £579

Is this a match made in CLB heaven? Harrods and Bugaboo have teamed up with one of our all time favourite fashion brands, Missoni, to produce these beautiful designer buggies. Presenting them at an exclusive mummies breakfast yesterday at Harrods, it was love at first sight for CLB. The classic Bugaboo Bee features Missoni's distinctive zig-zag design while the Cameleon features a vibrant block colour print that will stand out in any playground. And there's even a knitted Missoni blanket for the most stylish of strollers. 'It was a great joy to work on this project,' says Angela Missoni. 'Children are so sensitive to colours and patterns, so working with Bugaboo gave me a unique opportunity to create a dream stroller that I hope will be enjoyed by children and will stimulate their senses.' We are sure they will. The Missoni Bugaboo's will be available exclusively at Harrods for one month from 1st June.
